Democrats sent the F.B.I. a list of two dozen witnesses they said must be interviewed, just four of whom were on the Republicans’ original list. On Monday, the White House authorized the F.B.I. to expand its investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh — as long as the review is finished by Friday. The inquiry stems from allegations from Christine Blasey Ford that Judge Kavanaugh assaulted her at a party during high school.
Several of Judge Kavanaugh’s acquaintances from high school and college have made statements in support of his testimony, while others dispute his claim that he never “blacked out” from drinking alcohol.
